October Assembly: Breast Cancer Awareness: Puerto Rico Ladies' Civic Club, Ponce Chapter
Topic: Your Life is Your Crown: Karina was invited as a speaker during the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Karina shared her testimony and life story as a 24-year-old breast cancer survivor in her motivational talk. Through her talk, she educated all the women present on the importance of being aware of our bodies and, above all, our physical, spiritual, and mental health. The talk delved into topics such as breast cancer prevention, the tool of nourishing our thoughts, and the need to embrace our vulnerability because it is the value that allows us to connect with our humanity.

Karina was honored and recognized by the Ponce Chapter of the Puerto Rico Ladies' Civic Club as a great example of strength and perseverance in her fight against breast cancer. It's a battle, and she should be recognized for her work in educating more young people like her. "We are stronger together, tougher than cancer."
Award granted by the board of directors: Ms. Alexandra Pagán and Dr. Maryrose Concepcion (President of the Puerto Rico Ladies' Civic Club).
TeleOnce: The Power of the People
A live program on the TeleOnce news channel, "El Poder del Pueblo," tells the story of Karina von Gundlach and how her cancer diagnosis changes the beauty queen's life.
During the program, Karina narrated her experiences fighting against a health diagnosis that changed her life in the blink of an eye. She went from one day looking in the mirror in a gala dress, with long hair, a ribbon on her chest fighting for a physical crown, to how the next day she looked in the mirror in hospital clothing, with a med-port in her chest, without hair connected to a machine receiving chemotherapy fighting for her crown of life.
