Karina von Gundlach

Biography

Karina von Gundlach is a transcendental speaker with a sacred purpose of impacting lives with her inspirational story, a writer who, through her words, invites her readers to connect with the deepest part of their humanity. Through art, words, and music, she has transformed her challenges into healing. Her mission to tell stories based on her own life experiences has led her to identify the need for philanthropy in our current society, especially among young people. After receiving a cancer diagnosis at age 24, just two weeks before completing a beauty pageant, her entire perspective changed in the blink of an eye. Karina began to question and redefine the most valuable asset a human being possesses: their life.

Her transformation of resilience motivated her to become a voice in her community. She has given more than 20 motivational talks, sharing the message of true royalty, the gift of being human, with 1.7 million people through social media. When she hit rock bottom, the unexpected became her calling. Karina understood that God had chosen her to invite young people to a sacred awakening. From there, her dream of starting her podcast, "Sacred Invitation," was born, where you will hear and open the invitation to your sacred healing.

The podcast invites you to be present in a safe place where you'll identify with stories that connect with the deepest part of your humanity, conversations focused on self-discovery, holistic health, transcendence, healing, and the sacred value of each story behind each guest.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Karina was a shy and introverted young woman. But from a young age, she was vocal with her family and wanted to make a difference in the world. Until one of her teachers encouraged her to join her school's speech team at age 14, and that's when one of her passions was born. She also excelled in her school's youth choir. Years later, she also excelled in acting, participating in national speech competitions island-wide. In 2015, her piece, "Entre la luz y la oscuridad," was recognized at the Speech League, placing eighth on the island. Karina wrote the piece, and during her high school years, she wrote several pieces of poetry, play scripts, and essays. This helped her fight depression at age 15. From being a shy child, Karina found refuge in art and literature.

Education

In 2016, she moved to Miami to complete her bachelor's degree at Florida International University, where she completed her major in Applied Public Relations, Advertising, and Communication in 2019. In 2017, she completed several acting courses with Oscar-nominated actress Adriana Barraza at her Adriana Barraza Acting Studio in Miami. In 2020, she worked at several renowned advertising companies in Miami, putting her education into practice. At the same time, she recorded several of her own songs in different music studios in Miami. Music and art have saved Karina more than once.

In 2020, during the pandemic, she decided to strengthen her musical knowledge, which led her to complete her Master's degree in Music Business at Berklee College of Music in Boston. As part of her capstone experience and thesis, she had the honor of interviewing important leaders in the Latin music industry, such as Tuti Bou, Vice President of Sony Music Latin in Puerto Rico; Nannette Vélez, Senior Program Director of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation; Patricia Ligia, bassist for Karol G; Giulliana Merello, drummer and instrumentalist for Karol G; and Mar Fayos, multi-award-winning vocalist. The purpose of her thesis was to gather both quantitative and qualitative data on how we should implement greater gender equity, inclusion, and diversity in the Latin music industry to ensure more Latinas hold leadership and executive positions. In 2023, Karina graduated from Berklee College of Music with honors while also recovering from her most recent surgery. Although she could barely move her arms, Karina found the mental strength to achieve one of her most cherished dreams.

Commitment

In 2022, Karina has dedicated herself to giving motivational talks in non-profit organizations such as the Sor Isolina Ferrer Center, hospitals, entities, women's platforms, the Puerto Rico Ladies' Civic Club, churches, youth groups, public schools, media outlets, television programs, and managed to bring her testimony in the Emmy-winning documentary "Batallando Por Mi Vida" by NBC Telemundo and Luisa Sotero, highlighting the story of four young women diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 30. Karina, one of the four, highlighted the mission of creating more prevention and awareness for young women in Puerto Rico so that they are aware of their health.

In 2021 and 2024, she managed to participate in beauty pageants such as Miss Universe Puerto Rico, the first time withdrawing due to her health diagnosis and the second time closing a chapter by finishing among the 15 semifinalists and raising cancer awareness among young people with her non-profit foundation and educational platform: "Your Life is Your Crown."

The light of her healing has always been God. Karina is a virtuous woman clothed in faith. At every step she has taken in her life, the force that sustains her is the love of God. Karina describes each step along her path as a precious stone she adds to the crown of her life. But the brightest, largest, and most sacred gem in her crown is God.
